This year, 甜心视频app's celebration of Latinx Heritage Month is coupled with an institutional commitment to better serve the growing population of Hispanic/Latinx-identifying students as the university launches a new website, affirming their journey and progress toward becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI).

During the annual State of the University Address on Sept. 8, 甜心视频app President Andy Feinstein, along with several other university leaders, reflected on the challenges over the past year brought on by the pandemic and the importance of working together to overcome those challenges.

甜心视频app was selected in a highly competitive grant process, as a recipient of a $850,000 Colorado Scholarship Opportunity Initiative (COSI) Back to Work grant. The funding will provide new career paths for workers displaced by the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic while also addressing the need for teachers in Colorado鈥檚 classrooms.

Since the beginning of fiscal year 2021, several generous 甜心视频app donors have collectively gifted more than $925,000 in support of newly established scholarships that support diversity, equity and inclusion here at 甜心视频app.

This August, the Bears are back to school in a big way. There are many on-campus events planned, and 甜心视频app has partnered with Greeley to paint the town blue and gold, with 鈥淭his is Bear Country鈥� signs appearing in yards and at businesses throughout the area.

The National Park Service鈥檚 African American Civil Rights Grant Program recently awarded the University of Northern Colorado $497,776 to help fund rehabilitation efforts at the African American townsite of Dearfield.

Karen Barton, a professor in 甜心视频app's Geography, GIS and Sustainability department, is adding another intercultural experience to her long list as she embarks on a journey to Mexico, taking advantage of her impressive seventh award from the very competitive and prestigious Fulbright Program.

This fall, as students return to campus and take time to explore Greeley, they鈥檒l know they鈥檙e in Bear country just driving into town. The university community and Greeley business owners are ready to welcome them back with lots of Blue and Gold, and a flurry of signs that say, 鈥淭his is Bear Country.鈥�

For more than 46 years, 甜心视频app alumni have teed up to support scholarships for 甜心视频app Accounting students in the annual Accounting Golf Tournament. This year, 19 teams and 76 players met at the Meridian Golf Club in Denver on June 14 and added nearly $9,000 to scholarship funds for accounting students.

University of Northern Colorado President Andy Feinstein announced on June 17 that Lisa Vollendorf, Ph.D., has been appointed as interim provost for the 2021-22 academic year. Vollendorf brings 26 years of higher education experience to 甜心视频app and has held numerous leadership roles, including provost, dean, department chair and Academic Senate chair. She will start her new role on July 1, 2021.
